Grant to the Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki for the implementation of the project "Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art."
The project "Grant to the Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki for the implementation of the 'Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art'" concerns the organization of the 6th, 7th, and 8th Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art by the Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki (MoMus).
Internationally renowned exhibitions are planned, with collaborations with curators and visual artists from Greece and abroad, partnerships with institutions, and public space interventions aimed at attracting thousands of visitors to the city of Thessaloniki.
The Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art, first introduced to the public in 2007, begins a new operational phase with a revised structure, updated objectives, and a focus on a participatory curatorial model.
The events will include a main exhibition, structured in thematic sections, displayed across all MOMus venues and other central locations. There will also be parallel exhibitions and special events, including the Performance Festival, meetings with artists and theorists, symposiums, and collaborations with other cultural and educational institutions, creative groups, and individuals.
Project and artist selection will be made by the curatorial team of each edition in conjunction with an open call practice. The main exhibition will be held across MOMus's four museums in Thessaloniki: MOMus-Museum of Modern Art, MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art, MOMus-Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, and MOMus-Experimental Center for the Arts , as well as at MOMus-Museum Alex Mylona in Athens and in historical buildings managed by the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
