News-Announcements
Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival @ MOMus-Πειραματικό Κέντρο Τεχνών

MOMus-Experimental Center for the Arts welcomes once again the Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival, which this year develops its program under the general theme "What is Diversity?" at Warehouse B1, Pier A at Thessaloniki Port with two performances.

The word diversity has been used in recent years to describe the variety in the visibly irregular shape of members of Western societies. It reminds us and emphasizes that there cannot be two identical shapes, as nature constantly creates in a disorderly manner.

However, it has been observed that even this word, which knows no boundaries, has been limited to describe and include specific groups of people in society/societies and exclude others. When someone invokes it, they usually refer to groups that have some dominant common characteristics. That is, even this word, which was invented to remind us of complexity, is used to highlight the specific.

In response to the question "What is Diversity?" the Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival (June 26-30, 2024) will present a series of events by artists who live and create in today's Greece. Through these events, the power of art to support social change and evolution is highlighted, as the audience is invited to explore ways of familiarizing themselves with the Other, ultimately coexisting peacefully with it.

KOSTA BOTA by FRUIT GILLETTE

"KOSTA BOTA" is a performance that reimagines and transcends the boundaries between a musical show-album and theatrical prose, using storytelling as a tool for artistic creation. The entire performance takes place on a mirrored floor. The main goal of this setting is to create an atmosphere of reflections between personas and elements of the Greek home during the PASOK era and the Olympic Games, translating it into a personal ritual of deconstruction and reconciliation of the queer experience in the Greek countryside.
